Google Shopping feeds for furniture and home decor
Furniture shoppers compare on size, material and delivery before they click, and most furniture store exports bury all three in a description or a single 'Dimensions' text field. A Google Shopping feed for a furniture store works when those facts are pulled out into the attributes Google reads: product dimensions, material, color and shipping weight, plus a title that says '220 cm linen sofa' rather than 'The Oslo'. Here is that set-up, the channels that suit home decor, and what we set up in Textfinity for you.
We connect your store, build the feed and keep it in sync. Updated 2026-10-27.
At a glance
- Google accepts product_length, product_width and product_height in cm or in (1 to 3,000, same unit on all three) and product_weight in lb, oz, g or kg.
- shipping_weight and shipping dimensions are optional but required for carrier-calculated rates; shipping dimensions run 1 to 150 in or 1 to 400 cm.
- material takes a primary material plus up to two more, separated by a slash, max 200 characters. A title that names size and material beats a collection name.
- We set up Textfinity to split a dimensions text field into the three attributes with regex rules, write titles from them, and publish Google, Pinterest and Meta feeds from one source.
Attributes a Google Shopping feed for a furniture store should carry
| Attribute | Rule from Google's spec | Furniture example |
|---|---|---|
| product_length / product_width / product_height | cm or in, 1–3,000, decimals allowed, same unit for all three | 220 cm / 95 cm / 82 cm |
| product_weight | lb, oz, g or kg, 0–2,000; assembled weight including all pieces | 48 kg |
| shipping_weight | lb, oz, g or kg; needed for carrier-calculated rates | 56 kg |
| shipping_length / width / height | in (1–150) or cm (1–400); submit all three in one unit | 230 cm / 100 cm / 90 cm |
| material | Max 200; primary first, up to two secondary, separated by / | Linen/Beech |
| color | Max 100, primary first | Beige |
| pattern | Optional | Herringbone |
| item_group_id | Same value across fabric or size variants | SOFA-OSLO |
| google_product_category | Google taxonomy name or ID | Furniture > Sofas |
From Google's Merchant Center product data specification, checked 2026-10-27. Products over 400 cm in a dimension cannot carry shipping dimensions; quote freight in your shipping settings.
Getting dimensions and materials out of a furniture export
Store exports rarely have clean dimension columns. Shopify stores keep them in metafields or the description; WooCommerce exports put them in a 'Dimensions' attribute like 'W220 x D95 x H82 cm'; supplier spreadsheets use separate width, depth and height columns in millimeters. Textfinity reads all three: Shopify metafields natively, CSV and Google-shaped XML exports by URL, and a supplier sheet as a merged source joined on SKU when the store export lacks the numbers.
Each Google attribute is one output column with one transform. A replace from regexp on the dimensions text pulls out each number with the unit appended; an advanced rule with calc{} converts millimeters or adds inches to the title for US shoppers. Feed hygiene's completeness check then shows what share of products still has no width, so you know whether the rule or the data is the gap.
Three columns from 'W220 x D95 x H82 cm'
product_width ← replace ^W(\d+).*$ with \1 cm
product_length ← replace ^.*D(\d+).*$ with \1 cm
product_height ← replace ^.*H(\d+).*$ with \1 cmGoogle Shopping for home decor and furniture: channel mix
Furniture is a considered purchase, so Google Shopping catches the search ('oak dining table 180 cm'), while Pinterest Ads and Meta Ads catalogs reach people furnishing a room before they search. Pinterest suits home decor especially, but its catalog spec wants images of at least 1000 × 1500 pixels, so a room shot usually replaces the square packshot there. Microsoft Ads takes almost the same feed as Google and is a low-effort fourth channel.
A store with 300 products in a few fabric or wood options lands around 600 to 900 SKUs, usually with a Google feed plus Pinterest and Meta. AI descriptions help when supplier copy is one line, and translation covers a second market. A decor retailer with thousands of accessories runs the same set-up at a larger scale; each catalog is quoted on its own after a short call.
Examples
Worked examples, by situation
Four home and furniture catalogs, each with a different feed problem.
A collection name becomes a searchable title
Before
title: The Oslo Dimensions: W220 x D95 x H82 cm material: Linen
After
title: Nordhem 3-Seater Sofa, Linen, Beige, 87 in product_width: 220 cm
How we set it up
We map title with an advanced rule: [brand] + " " + [type] + ", " + [material] + ", " + [color] + ", " + round(calc{[width_cm] / 2.54}, 0) + " in", with width_cm prepared in a merged source (every product then needs a row in that sheet: an advanced rule that reads a merged column fails for a product with no match); product_width uses replace from regexp on the dimensions text.
Room shots for Pins, size in the title
Before
image_link: rug-ivy-160x230-flat.jpg (square) title: Ivy Wool Rug
After
image_link: rug-ivy-room.jpg (portrait) title: Ivy Wool Rug, Hand-Tufted, 160 x 230 cm, Moss
How we set it up
We build a Pinterest Ads feed and map image_link with an advanced rule: if [room_image] is empty then [image_link] else [room_image], with room_image as an extra export column (from a merged source, every product would need a row, or the rule fails). title is a combine of title, construction, size option and color with ', ' as delimiter.
Material lists in the format channels read
Before
material: Oak, Steel, Linen
After
material: Oak/Steel/Linen
How we set it up
We map material with replace from regexp ,\s* with /. Google reads the first value as the primary material and allows two more; feed hygiene's value-consistency check lists spellings like 'oak' and 'OAK' to clean in the store.
Fabric swatches and showroom-only items kept out
Google feed filters
exclude if [title] includes "Swatch"
exclude if [price] is less than 5
exclude if [tags] includes "showroom-only"
custom_label_0 ← if calc{[price]} >= 1000
then "high-ticket" else "core"How we set it up
We add exclude filters with includes and is less than on the export's title, price and tags columns (number filters read the first number, so '4.50 GBP' compares as 4.5), and map custom_label_0 with an advanced rule, so Shopping campaigns can bid differently on sofas and cushions.

Plan: a furniture and home decor feed in one afternoon
Most of the work is getting dimensions out once; after that every channel reuses them.
01
Send us the store and check completeness
Feed hygiene shows how many products have dimensions, materials and weights, and its title length distribution exposes titles that are only a collection name.
What we set up: We connect your Shopify store or CSV / XML export URL and run feed hygiene.02
Add missing data as a merged source
If the store lacks numbers, join a supplier sheet with width, depth, height and weight on SKU.
What we set up: We join the sheet as a merged source with SKU as the key.03
Build the Google Shopping feed
Map dimensions, weight, material and color into Google's attributes, one rule per column.
What we set up: We start from the Google Shopping channel template and map product_width and the other dimensions with replace from regexp.04
Write titles from the attributes
Brand + product type + material + color + size. For thin supplier copy, AI can enhance descriptions to 500–1,000 characters; each is accepted before it reaches the feed.
What we set up: We map title as an advanced rule or a combine, and set up an AI config that enhances descriptions.05
Filter and label
Exclude swatches, spare parts and showroom-only items; add a price-band custom label for bidding.
What we set up: We add exclude filters with includes and map custom_label_0 with an advanced rule.06
Add Pinterest and Meta
New feeds from the same shop with the channel templates; swap in portrait room images for Pinterest. Each feed is a URL that Merchant Center, Commerce Manager and Pinterest fetch on a schedule.
What we set up: We build the Pinterest Ads and Meta Ads feeds and register the feed URLs with you: you give us access or we walk you through it.
Customization tips
Make it yours
Size in the title, unit for the market
US shoppers search inches, European shoppers centimeters. Put the size in the market's unit in the title and keep the attributes in whatever unit your data uses, since Google accepts both. One feed per market keeps this simple.
Variants by fabric, not separate products
A sofa in six fabrics is one item_group_id with six ids, each with its own color, material and image. Splitting them into unrelated products makes them compete with each other in the same auction.
Shipping weight only where it changes the price
Carrier-calculated rates need shipping_weight and dimensions; flat or free delivery does not. Skip the attributes if your shipping settings do not use them, and you have fewer rows to keep accurate.
Bundles carry their total price
A dining set of a table and four chairs is one product at the set price, with the set's weight. Do not price it as the table alone; the landing page and feed must agree.
FAQ
Questions about google shopping feed for furniture store
What should a Google Shopping feed for a furniture store include?
The required basics plus the details furniture shoppers compare: product_length, product_width and product_height (cm or in), product_weight, material, color and, for carrier-calculated rates, shipping_weight and shipping dimensions. Titles should name the product type, material, color and size.
How do I add furniture dimensions to Google Shopping?
Send product_length, product_width and product_height as a number plus cm or in, between 1 and 3,000, all in the same unit. If your export has dimensions in one text field, split it into three columns with regex rules in your feed tool.
Is Google Shopping good for home decor?
It works well for decor with clear search terms (vases, rugs by size, lamps by material), and free listings let you appear without ad spend. Pair it with Pinterest Ads and Meta Ads catalogs for discovery, where portrait room images matter more than specifications.
Can I list furniture larger than Google's shipping dimension limits?
Yes. The product itself can be listed; shipping dimensions only go up to 150 in or 400 cm, so for oversized items leave them out and cover delivery with a flat or freight rate in your Merchant Center shipping settings.
